RNLI Portishead

Welcome to the website of the RNLI's newest station at Portishead.

2015 brought a big step forward for the lifeboat team based in Portishead. The new state-of-the-art Lifeboat Station built by the RNLI was completed, the hand-over between the Portishead Lifeboat Trust and the RNLI completed and the new Station declared operational. The previous Station at Sugar Loaf Beach is now closed.

The Lifeboat Station, which is close to the exit from the Portishead Marina, is run by the same crew and personnel that had previously run the Portishead and Bristol Lifeboat. Training programs throughout the previous year ensured that the competencies of the crew meet the full RNLI standards and the entire operation is a fully integrated part of the RNLI. Not only is there a new boat house, but a new ramp and lower slipway to enable launch and recovery of the lifeboat.

We are very grateful to the many donors who have made this investment successful – both the people of Portishead and the surrounding districts and specific donors who have funded major expenditure on the new ramp and the new Atlantic 85 lifeboat.
